Want to come down to Sin City and engage in a little bit of reminiscing about the entertainers who have made the city what it is? Then you’re looking to attend the fabulous Vegas! The Show. The creator, David Saxe, operates on the premise that Las Vegas was a city that was primarily built on raw talent. This show commemorates the great entertainers of the past while also taking a glance forward to the stellar acts of today.
Much of the show revolves around a custodian named Ernie, who takes the audience back in time to the incredible entertainers and landmarks that once graced the Strip, including signs for the Glass Pool Inn, the Silver Slipper and the Sands.
“For one night only, we want you to suspend reality and join us on a journey back in time to experience some of the greatest entertainers who ever played Vegas,” says Ernie to the audience.
And Vegas! The Show does this with aplomb, with all of the glitter and glitz that you would expect from a place that dares to call itself the City of Sin. You’ll be taken through the Rat Pack and the Copa room of the 1960s, as well as some acts celebrating the genius of Sammy Davis, Jr. If you’ve ever wanted to see a blonde Elvis, this show is for you – in fact, he even tells the audience that sometimes commemoration is not entirely about impersonation, but rather appreciation.
And in the grand scheme of things, a blonde Elvis can pay tribute to the real one just as well as a dark haired one can. And that’s Vegas!
